Privacy policy
Short version: the calculators run entirely in your browser, the figures you type into them are never sent anywhere, and there is nothing to sign up for. The site does use Google Analytics, which sets cookies, and there is a feedback box that sends what you write in it to us.

Who we are
LIC Calculators operates https://liccalculators.co.in, an independent educational website providing life insurance calculators for the Indian market. We are not affiliated with the Life Insurance Corporation of India. You can reach us at hello@liccalculators.co.in.
Calculator inputs never leave your browser
This is the important part. Every calculation on this site (premium, maturity, surrender value, annuity) runs as JavaScript inside your own browser. Your age, sum assured, policy term, premium and every other input are processed locally and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We do not store them, we cannot see them, and there is no server-side calculation to send them to. The entire site is static files.
What we do not collect
- Names and phone numbers, and no email address unless you choose to type one into the feedback box
- Policy numbers or any policy details
- Financial information of any kind
- User accounts, because there are none
If you email us, we hold that correspondence in order to reply to it, and we ask you not to include personal or policy identifiers.
The feedback box
Under each calculator there is a box for telling us that a figure looks wrong, and the contact page has a "Send feedback" button that opens the same box for anything else. When you press Send, four things go with it: what you wrote, the address of the page you were on, your browser's user agent string, and an email address if you chose to give one. They land in a spreadsheet we keep in Google Sheets, which means Google holds the message for us in the same way it holds our email. Nothing is sent unless you press the button.
Your figures are stripped before it sends. A result page keeps your answers in the part of the address after the #, and only the part before it travels with your message. Analytics follows the same rule. Your age, your sum assured and the premium you were quoted stay in your browser. If you want us to reproduce a case, type the numbers into the message yourself, and please leave out your policy number and anything else that identifies you: we do not need it and would rather not hold it.
An email address you give us is used to reply to you and for nothing else. There is no list to be added to. Write to hello@liccalculators.co.in if you want a message you sent deleted, and we will delete it.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies on this site. They are first-party cookies named _ga and_ga_<id>, and they exist to tell a returning visitor from a new one. Nothing is set for advertising, and nothing is set for preferences: the light and dark setting is kept in local storage instead, which is not a cookie and is never sent to a server.
Advertising
The site does not currently carry any advertising, and no ad network runs on it. We intend to fund it through advertising in future. If and when that happens we will update this page before any ad network is enabled, setting out exactly what is placed in your browser, by whom, and how to opt out. We will also show a consent notice to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, as the law there requires.
Analytics
The site runs Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which calculators get used. It records the page you are on, roughly where in the world you are, and what browser you use. Google discards the last part of your IP address before storing it, and we make no attempt to identify individual visitors.
The figures you type are excluded on purpose. A result page carries your answers in the part of the address after the #, so the full address of a result page contains your age and sum assured. Analytics is configured to report the page address up to that point and to drop the rest, which means your age, your sum assured and the premium you were quoted are never sent to Google. The calculators themselves run entirely in your browser and send nothing anywhere.
Third-party requests
The typeface, the styles and the scripts a page needs are all served from this domain, so viewing a page fetches nothing from anybody else. There are two exceptions, and both are Google: the analytics script described above is loaded from googletagmanager.com, and pressing Send in the feedback box posts your message toscript.google.com. Any request to any server necessarily discloses your IP address and browser to whoever runs it. Nothing else on the page is fetched from a third party.
Local storage
We do not currently store anything in your browser's local storage. If we add a convenience such as remembering a form value, that data would stay on your device, be readable only by this site, and be clearable through your browser settings at any time.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. These are retained for a short period and are not used to build profiles of visitors.
Children
This site is intended for adults making decisions about insurance. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and under the GDPR where it applies to you, you have rights of access, correction, erasure and objection in relation to personal data held about you. Because we hold almost no personal data (essentially only email correspondence you initiate and whatever you send through the feedback box), there is usually nothing to disclose or erase. Write to hello@liccalculators.co.in and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change, and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the page itself.
